
Ryan Kretschmer is an experienced securities, real estate, and transactional attorney whose career includes high level roles as both in-house General Counsel and in private practice with large law firms. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, Ryan has provided counsel and support with respect to high-stakes regulatory, transactional, and operational matters both within the U.S. and internationally, with an emphasis on real estate and real estate finance, joint ventures, private capital raising, investment syndication, corporate governance, securities regulation, and risk management. Ryan currently also serves as part time General Counsel for a real estate investment and syndication firm in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Most recently, Ryan worked with the national law firm of Maynard Nexsen PC, where he started in 2023 and served in both Shareholder and Of Counsel roles within the Private Markets and Real Estate groups, representing clients in a wide range of complex business and real estate matters, including fund formation and syndication, private securities transactions and regulatory matters, real estate joint ventures, acquisitions, dispositions, and financing, corporate governance and risk management.
From 2011 through the end of 2022, Ryan was in-house counsel for an international real estate investment and management firm, where he served as General Counsel and Executive Vice President, Law for the last 5 years of his tenure, managing all legal aspects of the company’s international business. Ryan’s in-house legal work included real estate transactions, U.S. and cross-border regulatory and securities compliance, contracts, transactional and joint venture structuring and negotiation, governance, risk management, employment, and litigation.
Ryan began his legal career in 2006 with the international law firm now called Squire Patton Boggs, where he focused his practice on corporate, securities, real estate, and real estate finance matters.
Ryan earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Arizona. Ryan is married with 3 children and enjoys playing hockey on a recreational team with his wife and watching and coaching his children’s hockey teams. When not at a hockey rink, Ryan enjoys outdoor activities and traveling with his family.
